Award Winner AbdulVilla’s VMF restaurant has received more high acclaim after one of its apprentices bagged a top honour at Walsall College’s Student of the Year awards.
VMF student Abdul Hussain Shabed walked away with the Apprentice of the Year award for the Hospitality and Catering section.
Walsall College is one of the key partners in Villa’s critically-acclaimed VMF project, with apprentices working towards a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hospitality Services during their two-year stint with Aston Villa Hospitality and Events.

Abdul, from Aston , stood out in his category for being “extremely dedicated and enthusiastic in lessons.”
His tutors added: “He always stays focused and fulfils tasks to a high standard and to the best of his ability.

“He has been a hard working student who never stops trying even when he gets things wrong.

“He struggles with theory at times, however, with an extra push he was able to complete all his end of unit tests.”
Villa’s VMF restaurant is no stranger to winning top awards.
Student Frances Cash showed her culinary class earlier this year by earning the silver prize in the Young Chef of the Year category at the annual Marche awards.

VMF - found in the Trinity Road Stand's Directors suite - is open Friday and Saturday 7-10pm and Sunday 12noon-3pm.
A three-course dinner menu is £19.95, with a three-course Sunday lunch priced at 16.50.
There is a new summer menu so it's well worth popping in, tasting some quality food and getting your hands on the new cookbook.
